Safeguarding

The Parish of St. Paul’s, New Southgate is committed to the safeguarding, care and nurture of the children within our church community, and also to encouraging an environment where all people and especially those who may be vulnerable are able to worship and pursue their faith journey with encouragement and in safety.

We are committed to the implementation of the Diocese of London Safeguarding Policy, and the relevant statutory legislation and guidance for the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. This includes DBS checks for all those working with children.

Each year the PCC considers and adopts a policy statement reflecting the Diocese of London Safeguarding Policy, and displays a copy in church and forwards a copy to the Diocesan Safeguarding Office for their records. The 2019/20 agreed statement can be viewed here.

The Church has a Church Safeguarding Officer who works with the Vicar and PCC to implement this policy and its procedures, and a different individual as our Children’s Champion:

Our Church’s Safeguarding Officer is Shola Soyoye.

Our Children’s Champion is Wendy Pope.

If you have any safeguarding issues or concerns, please contact Shola Soyoye, our Church Safeguarding Lead, by sending an email to [email protected] or contacting the Vicar (contact us).
